Amos Rono is an accomplished recreational runner, considered among the pre-elite runners in Nairobi. He has competed in numerous marathons including the 2024 128th Boston Marathon, 2023 Dubai Marathon, 2022 Kilimanjaro Marathon, 2024 Nairobi City Marathon, and the StanChart Marathon, twice in 2021 and 2022.

In addition to his marathon achievements, Rono is also an ultramarathon enthusiast. In July 2021, he and others ran 100km to raise Ksh—1.6 million for children living with cancer. The funds were donated to the Faraja Cancer Support Trust, a cause to which he is deeply committed.
